Leading national newspaper The Telegraph has been confirmed as the sponsor for the 2019 Woman of Steel award as part of it’s continued support for women’s sport.
Castleford star Georgia Roche won the award in it’s inaugural year after a sterling 2018 for the Tigers and is in the running to win the prestigious accolade for a second consecutive year. Players at all of the Betfred Women’s Super League have been voting for who they believe to be the best player in the competition with the three nominees for the award to be announced later this month and invited to the Awards Night, at which the Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel will also be crowned.
Roche’s Castleford are currently top of the table after winning all of their league games this season, leading by three points from St Helens who are a further four points ahead of Leeds Rhinos. There are two rounds remaining of the season before the top four embark on the end of season play-offs. The Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final will take place on Friday 11 October – the day before the men’s final – at St Helens’ Totally Wicked Stadium.
