Today saw the Betfred Super League fixtures for 2020 revealed with the competition set to kick off with a bang on January 30th with heavyweights Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves facing off at the DW Stadium with two headline arrivals in Super League set to make their bows as George Burgess and Gareth Widdop make their first appearances for their new clubs respectively.
With four televised matches over the opening weekend, there will be plenty of eyeballs on rugby league as we enter February and the round culminates with a Headingley double-header as Toronto Wolfpack make their Super League debut as they play one of their ‘home’ matches against 2017 Grand Finalists Castleford Tigers before Leeds Rhinos host Hull FC.
Newly-promoted Toronto – strongly linked with Sonny-Bill Williams in what would be a massive signing for the Super League competition as a whole – are currently scheduled to make their first top-flight appearance in Canada in April’s round eleven when they host Hull FC while the following weekend they are set to face Wigan Warriors at the same stadium.
Round 15 sees the return to Newcastle United’s St James’ Park for Magic Weekend where Hull FC’s clash with Leeds Rhinos headlines the Saturday while Wigan vs Warrington Wolves is Sunday’s eye-catching match. The first day of matches also sees a 2019 Grand Final repeat as St Helens face Salford Red Devils.
While Toronto’s Lamport Stadium is a new stadium for the competition, Leeds Rhinos are also set to grace new turf when they face Catalans at Toulouse’s Stade Ernest Wallon in round 16.
