With the Coral Challenge Cup semi-finals fast approaching, Halifax RLFC fans are set to enjoy their trip to Bolton as they become the first Betfred Championship team to reach this stage of the tournament in over a decade.
Stunning Betfred Super League opponents London Broncos in the fifth round, Simon Grix’s team also defeated Hunslet and Dewsbury Rams before coming out on top in a classic quarter-final at Odsal when James Woodburn-Hall’s late try defeated the 2003 cup winners on their own patch. Halifax, of course, lifted the prestigious trophy last in 1987 – their fifth title – and are looking for their first Wembley appearance since 1988.
Standing in their way are odds-on favourites and Super League leaders St Helens who are looking for their first Challenge Cup triumph since 2008 when they defeated Hull FC 28-16. Unlike Halifax, Justin Holbrook’s Saints have only played two matches to reach the semi-finals and dispatched of West Yorkshire duo Huddersfield Giants and, in the quarter-finals, Wakefield Trinity. The victory over Chris Chester’s team saw eight different try-scorers cross and they will certainly head into the game against the second-tier side as overwhelming favourites.
Whether it’s Holbrook’s all-conquering Saints or Grix’s Halifax underdogs, you can be there at Wembley to watch one of these two teams face either Hull FC or Warrington Wolves in this year’s Coral Challenge Cup final – and you can be there with our great ticket package.
With entertainment sure to be on offer on the hallowed pitch, you will also have the chance to meet the characters behind Rugby AM as well as some Super League stars with the Jamaican national team set to be in attendance.
