INNOVATIVE Featherstone have promised to take anyone attending a home game for the first time into the dressing rooms before letting them warm up and score a try on the pitch before kick-off!
The remarkable promotion, dubbed My Home Debut, starts with a free ticket but that’s just the tip of red-carpeted iceberg at LD Nutrition Stadium.
The club said in a media release first-time fans would visit the dressing rooms to hear a version of the team talk from coach Ryan Carr and “they will then be led out onto the pitch, where they will have the opportunity to warm-up on the field and even score a try in front of the Featherstone supporters.
“There will then be a meet and greet session with players, giving plenty of opportunity for pictures and autographs.
“The My Home Debut guests will then conduct a lap of honour around the pitch while having their names read out over the stadium PA, before joining the pre-match build-up as either a mascot or a flag bearer.
“They will then be able to sit and enjoy the match in the Family Stand.”
While VIP Experiences are now de rigueur in sports around the world, it’s unlikely any rugby league club has offered a rookie spectator such a lavish experience.
When it’s all over, the newbie will be presented with a certificate welcoming him or her to the fold.
It would take a hard marker not to come back.
