The 2016 event was a huge success in attendance attracting thousands of fans, over 70 junior clubs and a plethora of legends who took part in a fantastic legends game.
We simply don’t have the staff or resource to improve on last years event, although I’m disappointed in not operating Rugby AM Rocks this year I’d be more disappointed if the event was a flop because I wasn’t honest with myself and my staff.
To all those junior clubs who have registered their interest although we won’t be running our own event we will be helping to promote the Hybrid Cup at Headingley Stadium on Saturday 22nd July with RL Cares. There will be a Junior competition on that day and you will all get an email inviting you to that event.
We will be involved in events in 2017 but only as a media / presentation partner adding value to existing events. We will be working on Rhinos Challenge Skegness, Magic Weekend, Brighton 9’s, Ambassadors Festival, Summer Bash, Challenge Cup Final and the Grand Final.
To the Castleford club and fans you deserve the best and we will deliver a better experience than last year next year. A special to Michelle Cooper for your hard and dedication to the successful event last year.
To all the people who have supported Rugby AM a huge thank you from me and Jonesy, this year our main mission is to improve the TV show and grow the business we have some really exciting opportunities coming our way and we are really glad to have you with us for the ride.
Rugby AM started in 2012 as a project of passion committed to showcasing the personalities of the game and although we still have the same values we are very much a business that has responsibility to our staff and stakeholders; with that in mind I cannot risk losing money when we know we don’t have the people resource to do Rugby AM Rocks justice.
Rugby AM Rocks is an event that we will endeavor to return to in the future. Right now Rugby AM will continue making great TV and short films and I will prepare for another Simmons son.
